Honor your hero TODAY!
The Ohio County Virtual Lions Club believes it is important to honor your heroes, especially those of country, community, and family. Flags for Heroes is a fundraising event that provides an amazing display of American Flags. More importantly though, we celebrate heroes: military, first responder, mentors, community leaders, or other heroes (past or present). We place a flag in their honor based on donations from members of the community, businesses, and non-profits. For only a $50 donation, a flag will fly for your hero on and around Memorial Day, Independence Day, September 11th , and again on Veterans Day. Flags will be on display in Oglebay Park. Additionally, each flag will have a personalized, commemorative tag with the honoree’s name, which will hang on the flagpole. At the conclusion, we will mail your commemorative tag to you.
The Flags for Heroes Virtual Tour
Take the family around and check out all the flags. Scan your smartphone over the barcode reader, and you’ll be taken to a biography about the hero or a description of why they are being honored! It’s able to be shared with others in your family, and we hope it will be a great way to engage kids to learn about history and those who we honor with our sponsorship of a flag!
